  • About

    1. Program Information

The Sherman Public Library Summer VolunTEEN program is for students ages 12 - 18. The purpose of this program is to allow teens in the Sherman area to enhance job skills, gain work experience, and grow as an individual while contributing to the library. VolunTEENs will be credited service hours for time spent volunteering during scheduled shifts.

Types of tasks and duties you might be asked to perform as a VolunTEEN: Cleaning and straightening the public areas, shelf-reading to make sure materials are in order, cleaning toys and other items that are used by our guests, program/event prep, helping us facilitate programs with the public, creating and putting up decorations, and staffing the prize table for reading challenges.

    2. How do I know I got in?

All applicants will be notified via email within 1 week of application submission. If you do not receive a reply, please inquire at cassiew@cityofsherman.com

    3. VolunTEEN Shifts

If you are accepted into the program, you will receive an email with further directions as well as a link to the VolunTEEN SignUp Genius site. You may begin signing up for shifts immediately. Ms. Cassie will add shifts periodically, so check the site often.

All VolunTEENs are required to sign up for at least 2 large programs or events (one occurring before December 31st and one occurring between January 1st and May 3rd). Not doing so may impact the teen’s membership going forward. Larger programs will be noted with an “LP” following the program or Event Name in SignUp Genius.

If you are available to come in, but do not see a shift available, you may call or email Ms. Cassie to see if you can come in. Please do not show up without approval.
